Congresswoman Alma Adams from North Carolina is found to have COVID-19

Adams tested positive on Sunday and is exhibiting mild symptoms, according to information from her office. She reportedly received four doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the staff. In a statement, Adams said, among other things, "I am listening to my doctor's advise and taking it easy to guarantee a speedy recovery."

She has represented the 12th congressional district of North Carolina since 2014. Charlotte and most of Mecklenburg County are included in the district. As a result of a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, Mecklenburg County has returned to the medium risk category.

The amount of hospital beds in use, hospital admissions, and the overall number of new COVID-19 cases in a region all contribute to this. For nearly two weeks, Mecklenburg County had a high risk level.
