Friday's UCF football home game versus Louisville is one that Knights' senior wide beneficiary Ryan O'Keefe has had circled on his timetable for quite a long time. "This game will illuminate a ton in regards to our season," O'Keefe said Monday. "They're a really gifted bunch." The Cardinals sent the Knights back to Orlando with a 42-35 setback last year and the outcome conclusively moved the rest of the ideal opportunity for UCF. Besides, not because of the last score. On the last play of the game, past UCF starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel encountered a destroyed collarbone in his throwing arm. He'd continue to miss the remainder of the time.
Key starters, for instance, running back Isaiah Bowser, defensive lineman Ricky Barber, wary back Corey Thornton, past UCF wide beneficiary Jaylon Robinson and past Knights linebacker Tatum Bethune all missed time due to wounds in the game. UCF guide Gus Malzahn is familiar with what the ongoing year's matchup means for the Knights. "That was an outrageous plan, there so this is a game that is crucial to us," he said.
While Gabriel, Robinson and Bethune all moved elsewhere in the offseason, there are still Knights back this year who felt the misery of losing to Louisville including Bowser, Thornton and Barber. Malzahn has seen raised energy all things considered heading into Friday. "Especially from the people that went through that experience last year," he said, "you utilize all that you can to set yourself up in school football. It's unquestionably a critical game for them."
While the Knights began their season with a 56-10 win over South Carolina State, the Cardinals fell set out toward Syracuse 31-7 in a Week 1 ACC matchup. UCF feels quite skeptical of the horrendous appearance. "What they showed last Saturday isn't really what their personality is," O'Keefe said. "We will get the best type of them."
In the setback to the Orange, Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham combat. Taken out twice, he threw for just 152 yards. A twofold risk quarterback, Cunningham didn't have achievement on the ground either, recording just 34 yards on 13 conveys for a 2.6 ordinary with no hustling scores. Last season against the Knights, he threw for very nearly 300 yards and ran for 99 more while addressing three scores as he whipped UCF's insurance.
Malzahn knows containing Cunningham won't be essential. The UCF coach portrayed the confining quarterback as maybe of the best player in school football. "It will be a test for our whole protect," Malzahn said. "Things didn't go also as they'd can envision last week yet he's an outstanding player. We saw it direct last year." O'Keefe figured out what is key for the Knights to fight back for last year's adversity to Louisville. "We should be the best version of ourselves and be good to go," he said.
