Katyayani

Katyayani was born in a very prosperous house in a town named Kurarghar of Avanti district. Since childhood, Katyayani was very cheerful, as well as generous. If any beggar would come to the door, he would not let him go without giving him food. He used to feel happy by serving the poor and downtrodden. When she was a young woman, she became famous in the entire Kurghar due to her generosity.

A noble girl named Kali of Rajgriha was married in Kurarghar. Katyayani soon made friends with Kali, a girl like him. When both of them sat down, Kali used to sing praises of Lord Tathagata Samyak Buddha and discuss the sacred teachings and Mugdha-si Katyayani tried to follow those auspicious teachings. Later, Kali's son Kutikaran Son Ther came back from Jetavan Vihar after seeing the Lord. His loving mother-in-law Kali and mother-in-law Katyayani welcomed him at the Kunrghar.

On the request of the mother, he went to the stage in the beautiful pavilion in the night in an atmosphere fragrant with incense and flowers. Numerous men and women of Viraje city benefited from his darshan and appreciated his association and went there to listen to the holy teachings of God from him. had gathered. After Triratna Vandana, a sermon was organized. The black worshiper started fixing the material of worship like incense-lamp etc.

In the silence of the night, the thieves thought that citizens are citizens, why not steal today. So many thieves together started breaking into the city from one end. Putting them to work, his chief went to find out why the crowd had gathered in the distant pavilion.

Do not pay attention to the crowd that stood behind the main worshipers Kali and Katyayani, the worshiper Katyayani said to her servant - Sivika! Go home and bring a lamp of ghee etc.; I will also become a partner of virtue by offering prayers with my friend. Kali asked her friend to bring the oil lamp, but Shraddhashila Katyayani sent the maid.

The maid heard some words in the house. When he peeped through the hole, he found the thieves entering by breaking into the side of the palace. They were carrying money, jewelery etc. to carry them. The maid trembled with fear and immediately went to the mistress and narrated the whole situation. The chief of thieves thought that if Katyayani goes, he will cut her into two pieces.

The sermon had started. Katyayani was listening to the sermon with devotion. He said to the maid- "Let it go, servant! Do not interfere with listening to the sermon. Thieves are taking material wealth, let it be taken. Today I am receiving money in the form of priceless teachings. Don't get disturbed by it. The Sardar's hard heart moved on hearing the sincere voice of the reverent Katyayani. His heart began to rebuke him whether he had even gone through a woman who happily discarded that wealth considering it insignificant, that he would take it away, that too by theft. How much is a sin? Instead of stealing from such a virtuous lady, she should be absorbed in the earth.

His thoughts changed and he started listening to the sermon along with the congregation, leaving the money there after telling all the stories to his fellow thieves.

The night had passed. It was as if the early morning of the dawn was spreading flowers and flowers happily listening to the teachings of nectar-raining. A wave of innovative joy ran in the hearts of all the men and women.

Katyayani also came to her house. Some time would have passed when the chief of thieves fell at the feet of Katyayani and said with remorse- " Arya! Excuse me . Katyayani said because of not recognizing him- "Brother! What crime have you guys committed to me? Who are you apologizing to me? ,

The thieves narrated the whole incident of the night. Katyayani was very happy to hear about his change of mind and she said - "Go! I forgive everyone. ,

Hearing this, the thieves said, "Where will we get peace? Goddess! We want to renounce low karma and lead a spiritual life, only then we will get peace. Because of you, we got a new eth, got a new light, you yourself get us converted, Goddess. !

Hearing his voice, the compassionate worshiper Katyayani took him near Ther Kutikanna Sona. They all joined the Bhikkhu Sangha after taking Pravrajya there. Everyone attained the rank of arhat after attaining knowledge through hard practice.

Lord Tathagata was very pleased with Katyayani, who changed the lives of many thieves with his renunciation and devotion, listening to and obeying the devotion and always preaching, and while residing in the Jetavana Mahavihara, he gave Katyayani a place to the worshipers. One of the most happy worshippers. Grateful by giving precedence.
