Durga Bhabhi

Every mother wants to keep her child safe, but for the freedom of the country, the mother who took the little one in her lap must have undoubtedly been a courageous woman. It is about the time when British police officer John Saunders was murdered. The British government was looking for Bhagat Singh and Rajguru in every corner of Lahore. He had an eye on all the young men leaving Lahore. After being hidden for two days, Rajguru made a plan for which it was necessary to reach another person, and that was Durga Bhabhi. Durga Bhabhi was the wife of revolutionary Bhagwati Charan Vohra, a member of the 'Hindustan Socialist Republic Army' (HSRA). Rajguru asked her for help and said, "We have to move out of Lahore." Durga Bhabhi was a bit away from revolutionary activities since the birth of her son. But when she learned that Bhagat Singh and Rajguru needed her, she immediately agreed. What happened after that is such an anecdote of history, knowing about which people bury their fingers under their teeth. The anecdote, when Bhagat Singh, in disguise, along with Durga Bhabhi and their child, escaped from under the nose of the British. Do you want to know, how did this all happen?

Something happened that one day Rajguru took a handsome young man with him to meet Durga Bhabhi. Durga Bhabhi could not recognize that young man. Then Rajguru said – this is Bhagat Singh. To hide his identity from the British, Bhagat Singh had removed his beard and wore an English hat instead of a pug on his head. Durga Bhabhi was shocked because Bhagat Singh was not being recognized at all. He took three tickets for the train going from Lahore to Calcutta on the next day i.e. on the morning of 20th. Bhagat Singh was going to sit in the first class with his wife 'Durga and his child'. A third class ticket was taken for Rajguru, who became his 'servant'.

While reaching the station, everyone's heart was filled with trepidation that no one recognizes or something happens. But the British were looking for a turbaned Sikh. The young man dressed in an English suit - boots and hat did not notice. Such a young man, with whom he had a wife and a small child. No one doubted. Going inside the station, he took a train to Kanpur, then changed the train to Lucknow, because checking was going on in direct trains coming from Lahore too. In Lucknow, Rajguru separated and went to Banaras and Bhagat Singh, Durga Bhabhi and their younger child left for Howrah. The famous picture of Bhagat Singh was taken in Calcutta in which he is wearing a hat. In this way Durga brought Bhabhi Singh out from under the nose of the British.

He faced the situation with courage, leaving his home to help the brave soldiers of the country. She was away from all these revolutionary activities since the birth of her son, but seeing the demand of the time, she was also ready to jump into this fire. She stood firm on her words and, suppressing the fear of her mind, stood like a strong pillar and moved forward for what she thought in her mind. He decided to stand firm under the circumstances.
