There was a man from a rich family who practiced law from England and was living his life very lavishly. He had everything except one thing. He was not a citizen of a free country. When this thing entered his mind, he suddenly gave up all his pleasures and jumped into the fight for the independence of the country. This is the story of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das.
Chittaranjan Das ji had everything. He had a lot of wealth and all kinds of amenities. If he wanted, he would have easily completed his advocacy as long as the rest of the people were fighting for the country. If they wanted, they could easily move to another country and live. But sacrificing all these, he thought for the independence of the country. He saw that the freedom of his country was for him. They sacrificed everything and started working for the people of the country.
C.R. Das had contributed in the independence of the country. He became active in the country's politics from the year 1917. He was a great supporter of Swadeshi. He supported Khadi. He founded the National School in Dhaka for the students who had dropped out during the Non-Cooperation Movement.
During the agitations he mobilized a large number of volunteers and also helped in increasing the Khadi sales programme. The British government declared the non-cooperation movement illegal and arrested Chittaranjan Das and sentenced him to six months.
