Ram Prasad Bismil

When it comes to patriotism, the two most important songs that continue to inspire the agitators even today are "Mera Rang De Basanti Chola" and "Deshhit Jate Hai Desh Par Mar Jayenge". Even today, when the youth listens to these songs, the feelings of patriotism start to boom in him. Both these songs were written by Ram Prasad Bismil, the great revolutionary, the true heroic son of Mother India and the most popular poet of the freedom movement.

Whenever there is talk of great revolutionaries in the history of India's independence, then there will be mention of this brave son of Mother India. Ram Prasad 'Bismil' was not only a great revolutionary, but also a poet, poet, translator, multilingualist and litterateur of a high order. He had made the British rule sleep with his bravery and understanding and sacrificed his life at the age of only 30 for the independence of India. Apart from the surname 'Bismil', he used to write articles and poems under the names of 'Ram' and 'Agyaat'. Singing his famous composition Mera Rang De Basanti Chola, many revolutionaries swung on the gallows for the freedom of the country. Ram Prasad Bismil shook the British Empire by carrying out 'Mainpuri Kand' and 'Kakori Kand'. In a revolutionary life of about 11 years, he wrote many books and published them himself. Almost all the books published during his lifetime were confiscated by the British Government.

To meet the need of funds for the party's work, Bismil planned to loot the government treasury. A total of 10 people under his leadership (including Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Rajendra Lahiri, Chandrashekhar Azad, Shachindranath Bakshi, Manmathnath Gupta, Mukundi Lal, Keshav Chakraborty, Murari Sharma and Banwari Lal etc.) stopped the train at Kakori station near Lucknow on 9 August. The government treasury was looted in 1925. On 26 September 1925, along with Bismil, more than 40 people were arrested all over the country in the Kakori dacoity case. After that he was sentenced to death. Bismil was exercising in the morning on the day he was to be hanged. The jailer was surprised to see him exercising. The jailer asked him, "You are to be hanged in a few hours. Why are you exercising?"

Bismil replied that they are flowers to be offered at the feet of Mother India. They should not be withered but should look healthy and beautiful.
