Usha Mehta, a brave revolutionary woman, worked as an intelligence radio operator in those times when there was a severe shortage of resources with the freedom fighters. He, along with his revolutionary comrades who had come from England having learned radio technology, made the old transmitter usable by manipulating them and started the 'Secret Radio Service' against the British.
When all the big agitators were jailed in the Quit India Movement, during that time, through intelligence radio, Usha Mehta worked to reach all the countrymen with the information that the British government wanted to hide from the general public. He worked to keep the flame of freedom struggle continuously in the hearts of the people through intelligence radio.
This radio service gave impetus to the freedom movement. This radio changed its location almost every day so that it could not be caught by the British authorities. Recorded messages of prominent leaders of the country including Mahatma Gandhi were played on the radio. This secret radio went on for only three months because a traitor came under the greed of the British police and gave this news. Usha Mehta was arrested by the police but before that she had completed her work and had infused patriotism in the minds of the masses.
